How to download all your Loom transcripts at once
Last updated: 20 October 2026
Loom creates a transcript for every video, but it has no button to download them all. You can get them one at a time for free, or use a browser extension to export them all in one go. This guide covers both, honestly, so you can pick what fits.
Option 1: the manual way, one video at a time
This works on every Loom plan and costs nothing. It's the best choice if you only need a few transcripts.
- Open the video in your Loom library.
- Open the Transcript tab in the side panel next to the video.
- Click the copy button above the transcript, then paste it into a document and save it.
- Repeat for each video.
On some plans you can also download the captions as a subtitle file: click the … menu above the video and choose Download captions. According to Loom's help pages, this is available to creators and admins on Business and Business + AI plans, and to members and admins on Enterprise.
The catch is time. For a library of 50 or 500 videos you'll be opening, copying and naming files for hours, and it's easy to miss some.
Option 2: export them all with Bulk Transcript Exporter for Loom
Bulk Transcript Exporter for Loom is a Chrome extension we make. It lists the Loom videos you can access and saves their transcripts into a single ZIP file, one file per video plus a spreadsheet index. It connects through Atlassian's Rovo MCP server, the interface Atlassian provides for apps and AI tools to read Loom content, so there's no scraping and no sharing of your Loom password.
What you need
- Chrome, Edge or Brave.
- A Loom workspace on an Atlassian Cloud site that also has Jira or Confluence. A free plan of either is enough.
- An Atlassian organisation admin who can switch on API token access (step 1). This is a one-off.
Step 1: an admin switches on API token access (once)
- Go to admin.atlassian.com and choose your organisation.
- Open Rovo, then Rovo MCP server.
- Make sure the MCP server is allowed and turn on API token authentication. It's off by default.
Step 2: create a scoped API token
- Open this Atlassian token page. It opens with the Atlassian MCP V2 app and its scopes already selected.
- Give the token a name, create it and copy it straight away. Atlassian only shows it once.
An ordinary token from the plain "Create API token" button won't work. Atlassian rejects it with a "missing the scope claim" error.
Step 3: connect and export
- Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store and click its icon. The exporter opens in a new tab.
- Enter your Atlassian account email, paste the token and enter your Atlassian site address (for example yourcompany.atlassian.net).
- Click Load my videos, tick the ones you want (or select all) and click Export ZIP.
The free version exports up to 5 transcripts per export. Pro removes the limit for a one-time payment.
Which option should I use?
- A few videos: copy them by hand. It's free and quick.
- Dozens or hundreds of videos, a backup, or moving off Loom: the extension saves hours, as long as your site has Jira or Confluence and your admin can switch on token access.
- The videos themselves, not just the words: download them from Loom while your plan is active, or ask Loom support about a bulk export for large migrations.
Frequently asked questions
Does Loom have a button to download all transcripts?
No. In Loom you can copy or download one transcript at a time from each video. Atlassian has a public feature request for bulk transcript downloads (LOOM-296 on jira.atlassian.com), which you can vote for. For very large migrations, Atlassian's migration guide says Loom support can switch on a bulk video export for a workspace, but that is a support request, not a self-serve button.
I'm leaving Loom or cancelling my plan. What should I do first?
Export your transcripts before you cancel, downgrade or delete anything. Deleting a Loom account permanently deletes its videos and transcripts, and some download options are only available on paid plans. Export everything you might need, check the files open, and only then cancel. If you also want the videos themselves, download those separately from Loom while your plan is still active.
Do I need to be a Loom admin?
You don't need to be a Loom admin to export your own transcripts. You do need an Atlassian organisation admin to switch on API token access for Atlassian's Rovo MCP server once (step 1 below). If that's not you, send them the link to this page.
Why does it need Jira or Confluence?
The extension connects through Atlassian's Rovo MCP server, and Atlassian only accepts API tokens for that server on sites that also have Jira or Confluence. A free Jira or Confluence plan on the same site is enough. A site with only Loom on it can't be reached this way.
Why a special API token?
Atlassian requires a scoped token for its MCP app. The ordinary token from the plain "Create API token" button is rejected with a "missing the scope claim" error. The link in step 2 opens Atlassian's own page with the right app and scopes already selected.
Which videos can I export?
Videos you own, and optionally videos shared with you. The extension only sees what your Loom account can already see.
Is it free?
You can export up to 5 transcripts per export for free. Pro removes the limit for a one-time payment, with no subscription. See pricing.
Does Sparebuttons see my transcripts?
No. Transcripts go from Atlassian straight to your browser and the ZIP file is made on your computer. We have no server that receives them.
Can I get transcripts without any tool?
Yes, using the manual method above. It's free and works on every plan, and for a handful of videos it's the simplest option.
